Sir Paul McCartney
From beginning to end, the Paul McCartney concert was going to be legendary and everyone knew it. It was an easy in getting into Dodger Stadium. We knew our way around and got there and parked in under ten minutes, like pros. We were there early and had our secret tail gate inside our car before the show and were treated to sound check as we were parked right behind the jumbo-tron and adjacent to all the tour equipment.

We were anxious. Knowing we couldn’t be part of the short 30-minute set played at Dodger Stadium in 1966, here we were just two weeks short of the actual anniversary and we could tell this was going to be a great crowd. And indeed, it was. We met a couple of people who were fortunate enough to have attended that very concert. We shared stories and the excitement could not be contained.

We took our seats, just 26 rows from the stage. The anticipation was killing us. As a matter of fact, as we sat there, we saw a few celebrities take their seats around us and had the privilege of meeting and taking a picture with the very funny, talented and gorgeous Margaret Cho. She was sweet as can be and just gorgeous.

The show was about to start. The music started and we were on our feet. The introduction was like no other. It was like stepping into a photo album off the shelves of Sir Paul McCartney. We saw pictures of him as a child, the early days of the Beatles, family portraits and even sweet Martha. The photographic journey was the journey we were about to take with Sir Paul McCartney, himself.

Eight Days a Week starts, the crowd goes wild and they are on their feet. It was a bonding experience. Everyone knew every word to every lyric of this song. He led us through this journey, a three hour journey of over 30 songs.
Please enjoy some of the clips of our favorite moments, below.

My personal favorite was “Hey Jude. “ Though I had many moments that brought tears to my eyes, this one was particularly special. It was a moment when I turned around and faced the audience and took it all in. There I was, at MY Dodger Stadium. As I looked around with a super moon in the sky, it seemed like every single modern lighter (cell phone) was illuminating the skies of our City of Angeles. We were all one sharing a moment of pure musical bliss.

Leslie’s favorite moment was “Blackbird.” McCartney shared he wrote the song during the civil rights movement. As the music went on and the moon watched over us, like magic, the stage below the feel of Sir Paul McCartney rose. “Blackbird” is Leslie’s favorite song.

We have to admit that pyrotechnics caught us by surprise. “Live and Let Die” certainly got us pumped up for the two encores that were to follow. It was pyrotechnics galore and we enjoyed every second. Some of other favorite before the two encores include “Another Day,” “And I Love Her,” “Queenie Eye,” Something,” “Band on the Run” and “Back in the U.S.S.R.”. Songs were also dedicated to the late John Lennon, George Harrison, Linda McCartney and his current wife, Nancy Shevell.

We knew this moment would come and two encores helped the wounds not sting as badly. We thought being on a closed Hollywood Boulevard earlier this year for a private McCartney show with our friend April and a few thousand of our closest friends was magical, but you surly outdid yourself. Thank you Sir Paul McCartney for bringing your talent to us. We had an unforgettable evening with you and your very energetic band. Closing with “The End” was perfection. We couldn’t have asked for more. Come back soon!
